EDUCATION IS THE KEY

TO PREVENT PLASTIC POLLUTION

WITHOUT EDUCATION WE WILL BE STUCK IN A NEVER-ENDING CLEAN-UP

OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

We believe that education about reducing the use of plastic is the key to bringing about serious change. Our educational programs include student workshops, teacher workshops, public seminars, women's personal hygiene workshops, sexual education workshops, and educator training.

PLASTIC POLLUTION PREVENTION
PUBLIC SEMINAR

Our goal is to grow a greater understanding of plastic pollution and its negative impact on the environment, our health, and the future. This 1-½ hour workshop includes presentations, quizzes, and group discussions. All the activities provide them with information about plastic pollution and its effect on their health and the environment. The goal is to make them more mindful about keeping the environment clean and to make informed choices about alternatives to using single-use plastic. We provide participants with reusable water bottles.  The seminars are designed to motivate individuals to focus on reducing their use of plastic and the amount of waste they generate. We believe that people have to take action in their daily lives, they have to realize that the power is in our hands.

TEACHER'S PREPARATION MEETING
(JUNIOR / SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL)

In conjunction with our 4-week student workshops we also provide a 1 1-½ hour workshop for teachers that includes presentations, quizzes, and group discussions so that they will learn how they can incorporate the curriculum lessons we have developed about plastic pollution into their classroom.

Following the workshop provide teachers with a Teaching Manual that includes our environmental curriculum.

STUDENT WORKSHOPS
(JUNOIR / SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL)

Our educational program consists of four 2-1/2 hour workshops for 50 or more students that include instructional lessons, quizzes, group discussions, and area clean-ups. We also provide students with reusable bottles and tote bags. The workshops provide a holistic view of the single-use plastic problem and its connection to our health and the environment. The goal is to encourage positive actions on the part of the students, their parents and their community in terms of reduced consumption of single-use plastics and responsible waste disposal. To date, MUDFISH NO PLASTIC has educated more than 12,000 students in Indonesia about plastic pollution.

WOMEN'S PERSONAL HYGIENE & SEXUAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS

This workshop is designed for young women to educate them so that they can make informed choices about the proper disposal of disposable menstrual pads and as a better alternative use reusable menstrual pads. We include activities to empower women by providing them with the opportunity to learn about their own body and to be more mindful about keeping the environment clean.

The two 2-½ hour workshops include quizzes, arts and crafts activities, and video screenings. The goal is to grow a greater
understanding of menstrual health and awareness of the benefits of alternative sustainable menstrual products among Indonesian women. It includes running educational awareness workshops about sexuality and reproduction education in selected areas that have the highest rate of early pregnancies and marriage.

We also provide the women with reusable menstrual pads and tote bags / reusable water bottles.

EDUCATOR TRAINING PROGRAM

This program teaches young Indonesian adults how to run MUDFISH NO PLASTIC workshops in order to become MUDFISH NO PLASTIC educators. After being trained, the educators either work alone or are assigned to a two-person team to independently run MUDFISH NO PLASTIC workshops. Our training program is divided into 2 components: classroom training and actual workshop participation. After training, we provide the educators with materials (posters, frames, coloring pages, and practical solutions) that they will need to run the workshops in villages and schools.
