CREATING A FUTURE FREE OF SINGLE-USE PLASTIC USING THE UNIVERSAL POWER OF THE ARTS

I AM RESPONSIBLE, I REDUCE, I ACT!

OUR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

We run a range of social activities including village clean-ups, fish parade, dance performances, music performances and snorkeling trips.

FISH PARADE
VILLAGE CLEAN UP

We engage with children and local communities to raise awareness of the plastic pollution problem and the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastic by staging a monthly community clean-up parade using a giant fish trash container and music, singing, and dancing. Our educational clean-up consists of max 2 hours of activity. The clean-up includes: instructional lessons, quizzes, singing, and dancing. Our objective is to enable children to the experience of doing the hard work and understand that without education and practical solutions, we will end up having to do never-ending clean-ups.

OCEAN ADVENTURES

MUDFISH NO PLASTIC is committed to stopping plastic pollution in Indonesia by using education to teach children of the importance of protecting the ocean, marine life, and our beautiful coral reefs.  In addition to classroom workshops, we also provide a unique opportunity for Indonesian children to personally experience the beauty of the ocean and need to protect it by taking them on a snorkeling adventure.  Most children in Bali never travel out of their own village and even fewer have an opportunity to swim and see the beautiful corals and ocean life in the ocean. The children are accompanied by volunteers who protect them, teach them how to snorkel, and open their eyes to the dazzling wonders of Indonesia’s oceans and inspire them to want to protect it from pollution. To date, we have done 3 trips taking students from the Gianyar area to snorkel in Jemeluk Bay, Amed.

MUSIC PERFORMANCES

MUDFISH NO PLASTIC has several original songs composed, written, and played by our music band consisting of Ahmad Zely, Mama, and Heri Purnomo that we use during workshops, to educate and engage with students. The songs are about how to be mindful and caring about our nature, animals, ocean, river, and to reduce our use of plastic. The lyrics of the songs are easy to sing, and children and adults enjoy singing along and dancing to the beat.

DANCE PERFORMANCES

In collaboration with school students and a dancing studio, Sanggar Paripurna, we stage dance competitions to create dances for our songs. From this we developed our MUDFISH NO PLASTIC team dance that consists of students from different schools in Gianyar under the direction of Sanggar Paripurna, Bona. They perform at festivals and our special occasions.
